  • Lead with the right products so creators promote with confidence

  • Recruit and onboard creators with a day-by-day plan for the first 30 days

  • Read performance early and pull program levers by Day 60

  • Brief creators with a holiday checklist before calendars fill up

GM to the Top 1% ☕

She lasted 87 days.

Best hire of that cycle. Sharp, coachable, asked the kind of questions in week two that most reps do not ask in year two. We handed her the new stack on day one. Sequencer, research agent, call scorer, forecast assistant. I remember telling her she was starting with tools I did not have until I was eight years in.

In the exit conversation I asked what we could have done. She did not say the quota. She did not say the territory. She said, "I ran 200 touches a day for eleven weeks and I never once found out why any of them said no."

I have thought about that sentence more than any deal I lost that year.

💡 THE COST LINE THAT SURVIVED AUTOMATION

Here is the part that should worry every sales leader reading this. SDR turnover still runs near 40 percent a year, roughly triple the average across US jobs. About one in five new reps quits inside 90 days, before they have ever fully ramped. Each departure runs somewhere between 78 and 149 thousand dollars once you count recruiting, ramp, and the pipeline that never got built.

We automated the pipeline. We automated the research, the drafting, the scoring, the forecasting. We did not automate a single dollar of that. It is the one cost line that came through four years of AI adoption completely untouched, and almost nobody has it on a dashboard.

And the mechanism is not mysterious. When a rep sends four emails and gets one no, they learn something. When a rep sends 200 and gets silence, they learn nothing, and a person who is learning nothing leaves. We did not give her a productivity tool. We gave her a machine that removed every feedback loop she needed to get good, and then we measured her on the output of the machine.

🔧 THE 87 DAY KEEP CHECK

Four questions to run on every rep inside their first quarter.

1. Can they name a real reason for one loss this month? Not "budget" and not "timing." An actual sentence a human said to them. If not, they are operating a tool, not selling.

2. What is their touch to conversation ratio? If it takes more than 60 touches to produce one real conversation, cut their volume by 70 percent this week and make every remaining touch something they wrote themselves.

3. Who have they talked to live in the last five days? A rep who has had zero unscripted human conversations in a week is 30 days from updating their profile, whatever the activity dashboard says.

4. What did they get better at? Ask them directly. If they cannot answer, that is your answer, and it is a management problem rather than a hiring one.

🎯 THIS WEEK'S HOMEWORK

Take your newest rep, or take yourself if you are the newest thing on your own team, and cut planned outreach volume by 70 percent for one week. Use the recovered hours to get five real conversations and write down the actual reason each person gave. Learning why people say no is the only compounding asset in this job.

❓ QUESTION OF THE DAY

What is the last real reason a buyer gave you for saying no, in their words, not your CRM's dropdown?

Reply with the sentence. I want to see how many of us still have one.

See you tomorrow.

P.S. Cutting volume by 70 percent only works if the touches that remain are far better. The 500 AI Sales Prompts manual is built for exactly that trade, fewer messages that are researched, specific, and worth a reply. It is 27 dollars and it is the cheapest retention tool I know: https://store.edwardgorbis.com
