GM to the Top 1% ☕

Saturday. Coffee. One idea to carry into next week.

The headline number this year is that AI and predictive intelligence cut B2B sales cycles by up to thirty six percent. Complex deals closing in forty one days instead of sixty four. Real, measured, and worth wanting.

But the fine print is the whole story. That compression did not come from teams handing the deal to a machine. It came from a division of labor. The AI ate the research, the drafting, the qualification, the follow up admin. And the human got pulled onto the exact moments that were always going to decide the deal: the hard conversation, the multi threaded politics, the moment of trust.

💡 THE MACHINE COMPRESSES THE PARTS THAT WERE NEVER THE HARD PART.

For years we measured sellers by how much they could do. Calls dialed. Emails sent. Accounts touched. The machine has now made all of that essentially free, and in making it free, it revealed something uncomfortable. Volume was never where the deal was won or lost.

The thirty six percent came from removing the drag, the days a rep used to lose to research and note taking and status emails, and reinvesting them into judgment. The teams that won did not become more automated. They became more concentrated. Their best human spent more time on fewer, higher stakes moments, and less time on the busywork the machine now handles.

Here is the truth to sit with over your coffee. When the machine absorbs the volume, the only thing left to differentiate you is the quality of your judgment in the rooms that matter. The hybrid rep is not the one who automates the most. It is the one who is most fully present for the ten percent of the deal that was always going to decide it. That presence is now the entire job.

🔧 HOW TO BECOME THE HYBRID REP THE NUMBER REWARDS

Give the volume to the machine. Reclaim the moments that decide.

1. Automate everything that does not need you: Research, drafts, CRM hygiene, follow up logistics. If a machine can do it acceptably, it should.

2. Reinvest the reclaimed hours, do not pocket them: The trap is banking the time saved as leisure. Put it into deeper prep on the deals that decide your quarter.

3. Own the trust moments personally: The tough negotiation, the executive alignment, the moment of doubt. Never delegate those to a sequence.

4. Get better at the un-automatable: The scarce skill is now reading a room, holding a silence, changing a mind. Practice the part no tool can do.

🎯 THIS WEEK'S HOMEWORK

List everything you did on your biggest deal last week. Mark each item M for machine-can-do or H for human-must-do. Next week, push every M to a tool and spend the reclaimed hours on a single H moment you have been rushing. See what deeper presence does to the deal.

❓ QUESTION OF THE DAY

What is the one moment in your current deal that only you can carry, and are you actually giving it your best hours?

Reply with the moment. Naming it is half the work.

See you tomorrow.

P.S. Becoming the hybrid rep starts with handing the machine everything that does not need you. I packaged the 500 prompts I use to automate the volume, the research, the drafts, the follow ups, so your hours go to the moments that actually close. It is 27 dollars: https://store.edwardgorbis.com
