How Jennifer Aniston’s LolaVie brand grew sales 40% with CTV ads

For its first CTV campaign, Jennifer Aniston’s DTC haircare brand LolaVie had a few non-negotiables. The campaign had to be simple. It had to demonstrate measurable impact. And it had to be full-funnel.

LolaVie used Roku Ads Manager to test and optimize creatives — reaching millions of potential customers at all stages of their purchase journeys. Roku Ads Manager helped the brand convey LolaVie’s playful voice while helping drive omnichannel sales across both ecommerce and retail touchpoints.

The campaign included an Action Ad overlay that let viewers shop directly from their TVs by clicking OK on their Roku remote. This guided them to the website to buy LolaVie products.

GM to the Top 1% ☕

It is Saturday, so here is a question worth a slow coffee. What have you learned this year that will still be worth something next year.

Because most of what we learn now expires fast. The tool you mastered in the spring shipped three breaking updates by fall. The prompt that worked in July got absorbed into a default. If your edge is knowing where the buttons are, your edge has a shelf life measured in weeks.

There is one seller skill that does not depreciate. It has been quietly beating everything else the whole time, and no model release touches it.

💡 TIMING IS THE SKILL. TOOLING IS THE RENTAL.

The skill is knowing when to reach out, and being specific about why.

The numbers are honest and still decisive. Broad cold outreach runs a 0.5 to 2 percent reply rate. Full signal-based outreach lands 4 to 10 percent. That is a 2 to 4x lift, not the 10x a vendor will sell you, and it comes entirely from specificity and timing. Naming the exact trigger, "you just hired a VP of RevOps," instead of leading with a value prop, is the whole mechanism.

And here is the distinction that separates operators from people buying data. Intent data tells you who is researching your category. A signal tells you who is ready to act. They are not the same thing, and most intent data carries a one to seven day lag that a fast rep simply outruns. The cheapest, fastest signals are free and public: a hiring post, a leadership change, a product launch, a funding round, a public complaint about the exact problem you solve. No subscription required. Just attention.

That is why this is the skill to invest a Saturday in. A tool is a rental you re-lease every quarter. The ability to read a trigger and act on it inside a day is yours, it compounds, and it survives every model release, every pricing change, every platform you will have to relearn. When the tools reset again, and they will, the rep who knows how to read timing starts the new game already ahead.

🔧 BUILD YOUR SIGNAL HABIT THIS WEEKEND

Four moves. None of them cost a dollar.

1. Pick three free signal sources: Hiring pages, leadership announcements, and public posts in your buyers' world. Set them up so the trigger comes to you, not the other way around.

2. Write the trigger, not the pitch: Open every message with the specific event and why it matters to them right now. The value prop comes second, if at all.

3. Move inside 48 hours: A signal is perishable. The reply-rate lift lives in the window before the buyer has already solved it or fielded ten other reps.

4. Separate signal from intent in your head: Intent tells you who is looking. A signal tells you who is ready. Chase the second one, because the first one is already a crowd.

🎯 THIS WEEK'S HOMEWORK

Before Monday, set up one free signal source for your top 20 accounts and write a two-line trigger-first template you can fire the moment something moves. You will start next week with a reason to reach out that no cold sequence can manufacture.

❓ QUESTION OF THE DAY

What is the last outreach you sent that opened with a real, specific trigger instead of a value prop?

Reply with it. If you cannot remember one, this weekend is where that changes.

See you tomorrow.

P.S. Turning a raw signal into a message a buyer actually replies to is the part that stalls most reps. The 500 AI Sales Prompts manual has the trigger-to-outreach prompts I use to go from "they just hired a RevOps lead" to a two-line opener in under a minute, so the timing edge never dies in a blank draft. 27 dollars: https://store.edwardgorbis.com
