GM to the Top 1% ☕

Here is a ratio that should change where you spend your energy. For every one hour a buyer spends with your sales team, they now spend roughly five hours researching on their own, and most of that research happens inside AI tools.

Then this one. 33% of B2B buyers just purchased from a vendor they had never previously heard of, discovered entirely through an AI search answer.

So the machine that briefs your buyer is now a gatekeeper. If you are invisible to it, you are invisible to them.

💡 IF THE AI DOES NOT KNOW YOU, THE BUYER NEVER WILL

We spent a decade optimizing for the buyer's attention. The new job is optimizing for the model's memory. Because the buyer is no longer forming their shortlist from your outreach. They are forming it from what ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI search tell them when they ask "who should I look at for this."

That is a strange and slightly uncomfortable idea. Your reputation now has a second audience, and it is not human. The AI is reading the internet's consensus about your category and handing your buyer a shortlist based on it. One in three deals is now going to a name the buyer had never heard of until a model said it out loud.

Here is the shift. Being good is no longer enough if the good is invisible to the machine. The reps and companies pulling ahead are the ones whose point of view, case studies, and third-party proof are dense enough that the AI cites them by default.

You do not control the algorithm. But you absolutely control whether there is anything for it to find. Most of your competitors have left the shelf empty.

🔧 HOW TO BECOME THE ANSWER

Four moves to show up when a buyer asks the machine who to trust.

1. Publish an opinion, not a brochure: Models surface distinct points of view, not generic feature copy. Say something only an operator would say.

2. Get named by third parties: A mention on a podcast, a peer's post, a review site carries more weight with an AI than your own homepage. Go earn the outside citations.

3. Answer the exact question buyers ask: Write the piece titled the way a buyer types it. "Best way to govern AI in a regulated sales team" beats "Our platform capabilities."

4. Be referenceable in one line: Give the internet a crisp sentence about what you are best at, so the model has something clean to repeat.

🎯 THIS WEEK'S HOMEWORK

Open ChatGPT or your AI search tool of choice and ask it the exact question your buyer would ask before shortlisting your category. See if you or your company show up. If you do not, you just found the most important gap in your pipeline, and it is not in your CRM.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

If your buyer asked an AI "who should I trust for this," would your name come back?

Reply with what the AI actually said when you tried it. I am genuinely curious what is showing up.

See you tomorrow.

P.S. Showing up as the answer starts with research and a point of view sharp enough that both the buyer and the machine remember it. I packaged the exact prompts I use to build that, 500 of them, the point-of-view builders, the account research, the message-crafting sequences. It is 27 dollars: https://www.edwardgorbis.com/products/500-ai-powered-prompts-for-elite-sales-professionals
