GM to the Top 1% ☕
Sunday morning. My daughter asked me a question over pancakes that I could not answer.
"Daddy, what did you get better at this week?"
I stared at the maple syrup. I had closed some business. I had sent a lot of emails. I had sat in a lot of meetings. I had not gotten better at anything I could name out loud to a five year old.
That question is now the only Sunday ritual I protect.
💡 REPS WHO COMPOUND ASK THE SMALL QUESTION
Here is the quiet truth of a long sales career. You do not compound by closing bigger deals. You compound by getting 1% better at one specific thing, every week, for a decade.
Most reps cannot answer what they got better at last week. That is the whole problem. You cannot compound what you cannot name.
The reps I watch pull away from the pack do something simple. Every Sunday, 15 minutes, they write down one skill they practiced that week. Not a deal closed. A skill practiced. Discovery question rewording. Objection reframing. Silence in negotiation. Power mapping. Champion coaching.
Over 52 weeks that is 52 named skill reps. Over a decade that is 520. That is the entire moat.
🔧 THE SUNDAY SKILL LOG (15 MINUTES, ONE LINE)
One line per week. That is all. Do it tonight.
1. The Skill: Write one skill you practiced this week. "Letting silence hang after a price objection." Be specific. No adjectives.
2. The Rep: One moment you can point to where you used it. "Tuesday with the VP of Eng at the healthcare account."
3. The Result: What happened. "He filled the silence with the real budget number."
4. The Next Rep: Where will you practice it next. "Thursday MEDDIC review."
🎯 THIS WEEK'S HOMEWORK
Open a Google doc. Name it "Sunday Skill Log." Fill in this week's four lines before you close your laptop tonight. Come back to it next Sunday. Do not skip a week for six months.
❓ QUESTION OF THE DAY
What is the one skill you practiced this week that you will still be practicing in 10 years?
Reply with it. I read every single one.
See you Monday.

P.S. The Sunday Skill Log works for one rep. The AI-Native Sales Leader course on Maven builds the full operating system around it: prompt library, deal review rhythm, coaching cadence, the whole thing. Next cohort opens this month. Save your seat ($599).
