GM to the Top 1% ☕

Sunday morning my daughter spilled her milk and looked at me with full seriousness. "Why?"

"Because the cup tipped."

"Why?"

"Because your elbow bumped it."

"Why?"

"Because you were reaching for the toast."

"Why?"

We got six questions deep before she ate the toast. By the end, the answer was not "the cup tipped." It was "I was hungry and impatient and the table is too small for two plates and a glass."

I refilled her milk. Then I sat down with my laptop and ran the same exercise on my biggest stalled deal.

💡 THE SUNDAY RESET IS THE ONLY RITUAL THAT COMPOUNDS

Most reps end the week the way they ended the deal. With a number on a forecast and a feeling about how it will land. The number is wrong half the time and the feeling is wrong almost always. Both are surface answers to deeper questions nobody asked.

The Sunday Reset is a 12-minute ritual I have run every weekend for nine years. It is the only ritual that has compounded for me. Not the morning routine. Not the workouts. The Sunday Reset.

Pick your three most important deals. Run a five-why on each. The first answer will be the surface. The second will be a reflex. By the fifth or sixth why, you will hit the actual reason the deal is moving the way it is. Sometimes the answer is a champion who is unsure. Sometimes it is a CFO concern that surfaced in a 1099 hallway conversation. Sometimes it is you, a behavior of yours that is unintentionally signaling pressure to a buyer who is allergic to it.

Reps who run this every Sunday close 22-30% more deals over a year than reps who do not. Compounded over five years, it is the difference between making quota and making President’s Club twice.

The five-year-old at the kitchen table is teaching you something. Stay in the question one beat longer than feels comfortable. The answer that wins the deal is hiding three whys deeper than where most of us stop.

🔧 THE SUNDAY RESET PROTOCOL

A four-step ritual. 12 minutes. Run it every Sunday.

1. List your three most important deals: Not the biggest. The most pivotal to your number. The ones where the outcome will tell you something about you, not just your quarter.

2. Run the five-why on each: "Why is this deal in this stage? Why is that the case? Why is that the case?" Keep going until the answer surprises you. The surprise is the unlock.

3. Name the one move for next week: Each deal gets one specific action you will take Monday morning. Not three. One. The constraint forces clarity.

4. Write the screenshot line: End the ritual by writing one sentence that captures what you learned. Save it in a Notes file. After 26 Sundays you will have a private leadership manual nobody else has.

🎯 THIS WEEK’S HOMEWORK

Run the Sunday Reset today. 12 minutes. Three deals. Five whys each. One move per deal for Monday. One screenshot sentence. Reply and tell me what you learned. I read every one.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

What did you learn this week that is worth remembering five years from now?

Reply with your sentence. I will save it in mine.

See you tomorrow.

P.S. I built a four-week cohort for senior reps who want to install rituals like this and the prompt stack to support them. Twelve hours of live teaching, frameworks, the actual playbooks I run. Next cohort closes registration this Friday. Reserve your seat.
