Dan Martell posted something recently that landed differently than most things I read.
"You're dangerous when you're focused."
He was talking about entrepreneurs. But I read it and immediately thought about sales.
Because the best reps I've ever competed against or managed weren't the most talented. They were the most focused.
🔑 WHAT FOCUSED SELLING ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
There are two kinds of busy in sales.
Reactive busy: chasing inbound, responding to whatever landed in the inbox, running demos for the wrong prospects, attending meetings because someone asked.
Intentional busy: running your territory like a CEO. Deciding who gets your time. Running the plays that have the highest probability of return. Protecting the first hour.
Most reps spend 70-80% of their time in reactive busy. They feel productive. They're just not moving.
Intentional sellers make different choices.
They know their three best-fit accounts every week and they touch them first.
They know which deals in their pipeline are within 30 days of closing and they make those the priority, not the squeaky wheel.
They protect time for deep work — the business case that needs to be written, the champion call that needs to happen, the research that changes the next conversation.
They say no to the things that feel urgent but aren't important.

Here's the honest truth about why I think AI matters in sales right now.
It's not because AI makes you smarter. It's because AI gives you hours back.
The hour you used to spend building a research brief before a major call. The 45 minutes you used to spend writing the follow-up summary. The time you spent manually updating the CRM after every meeting.
AI handles those things faster and at least as well.
Which means the rep who builds an AI-powered workflow doesn't just have better content. They have more intentional hours.
